# How a Data Story page works

Data stories can include PowerBI embeds to display dynamically updating data. **To get the PowerBI template and instructions, see the** [**Data visualization standards for SF.gov**](https://sfdigitalservices.gitbook.io/data-visualization-guide/more-resources/using-the-power-bi-template)**. Be sure to** [**use the template**](https://sfdigitalservices.gitbook.io/data-visualization-guide/more-resources/using-the-power-bi-template)**.**

Within the PowerBI embed:

* **View data source** links back to your data set when you add the URL.
* **Data notes** at the bottom of Power BI embeds show in an accordion, but can be as long as you need.

The table of contents is automatically generated from the page headers.

Create a collection of related Data stories by adding them all to a [Resource Collection](/karl-sf.gov-editor-help-center/using-karl-the-cms/content-types/building-a-page-by-content-type/resource-collection.md). A “Part of” link to the Resource collection will then be automatically included near the title of the Data story.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://sfdigitalservices.gitbook.io/karl-sf.gov-editor-help-center/using-karl-the-cms/content-types/building-a-page-by-content-type/data-story/how-a-data-story-page-works.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
