3 different modes for a page

Live, page editor, and preview

In Karl, there are 3 ways to view a page:

  • Live mode, as it appears to the public

  • Page editor mode, where you can edit the page

  • Preview mode, where you can see how an unpublished page will look when it is published

Live

Live mode shows the published page, visible to the public.

Page editor

Page editor mode is the editable interface of a page.

Here is a Transaction page in the page editor:

Preview

Preview mode shows how an unpublished draft of a page will look when it is published.

Preview looks like a live page, but will always have a preview banner across the top.

Here is a Transaction page in Preview mode:

Pages in preview mode can be shared with anyone

You can copy the link for a preview and share it with anyone, whether or not they are an SF.gov editor. This is useful for when you want to share a preview of an unpublished page with a colleague or community partner.

Once you've shared a preview link, it's not possible to un-share it or remove access.
