Components

Components are small, distinct parts of pages.

Reusable components

Reusable components include:

  • Addresses

  • Media (like images, PDFs, documents and spreadsheets

  • Profiles

  • Resource tiles

Changing a reusable component changes it everywhere

Reusable components are stored in the SF.gov database, and can be added to any number of pages on SF.gov. When the component is changed from any page, it changes everywhere else it is used.

For example, addresses are a reusable component. When an address changes, you can update the address component, and it will update on each page. You do not need to find and update every page that has the address.

Non-reusable components

Many components are not reusable across pages. These include:

  • Titles

  • Descriptions

  • Buttons

  • Callouts

  • Spotlights
